So, I’m playing catch ups. I do that a lot. This time it’s catch ups with the daily blog challenge…
Day 24: A piece of advice you’ll never forget
My Mum always told me that if there’s somebody who really doesn’t like you, be extra nice to them- it throws them off guard…and it works. She also told me that if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.
My advice to my daughter so far has been:
- No matter how late, drunk or tired you are, wash your make-up off before you go to bed.
- Somewhere in the world it’s 5pm.
Day 25: What is your least favourite exercise?
Anything that involves jumping on or off anything- I have trust issues…
Day 26: What is your favourite 12wbt recipe?
This is a tough one for me as I have not been following the nutrition plan. My favourite healthy recipe is a hainanese chicken I have adapted for temple food days.
Day 27: Your favourite health/fitness app?
I love Map My Run. Regardless of whether it’s a walk with el poocho or a walk/run, this app takes the guesswork out of the distance travelled and just how fast I have done it.
I also love the Weight Watchers app for iphone. Tracking on the go, and my favourites saved. Love it.
Day 28: 3 food you have added to your diet since starting 12WBT
Ummm none. Everything in the nutrition plans (that I haven’t been following) was already in my pantry- I just eat way too much of it!
I am experimenting more with different cooking techniques and have been making good friends with my steamer. Even the most simply poached or steamed chicken or fish can be enlivened with herbs and spices.
My current favourite is steamed chicken breast with greens and a wasabi-yoghurt dressing. Green and white- fresh like Spring.
Day 29: Highs and Lows from September
Not so many highs this month.
I’ve struggled- a lot.
I started the month full of hope and inspiration. I had a publisher who had indicated they were interested in my book.
And then my Nan died, and my Dad got sick too. He has an operation scheduled for next week.
I started to feel as though the foundations of my world were rocking. So I said yes to something I wanted to say no to. I got scared again. Not just uneasy, but downright terrified.
I’m now trying to let that go. The fear, that is.
Things are happening in my world that I can’t control, but I’ve let those things take me over when I should have been focusing on those that I can control.
I’m now trying to let that go. The control, that is.
So, I’ve finished the month at a similar weight to when I started it.
That’s why I’m now letting go. One habit at a time.
